Festival Spotlight: Intent at Arcadia Spectacular
Fire, flying and beats
Intent gets ready for a busy festival season
It’s April and that means only one thing at Intent, it’s the moment in the year to enjoy the calm before the busy summer season.
To celebrate the moment we thought that we would look back on some highlights of last years season and celebrate the great gigs, builds and moments that made 2017 such a fun filled year.
There was no better way to kick off our 2017 festival season than with the colossal Junction 2. Already a heavy-weight on the festival roster, Daphni, Adam Beyer, Ben Klock and Maceo Plex were the tip of a five-stage-strong iceberg of a line up. Not ones for holding back on the scale of their events, London Warehouse Events partnered with us to transform the empty space hidden beneath the M4 into an industrial underworld to smash the expectations of even the most seasoned ravers.
The Hydra stage was amongst the largest of five dilemma-inducing stages. We pushed skyward with the height and mammoth structure creating a party venue with a capacity of 2500 with towering metal columns suspending a ceiling that soared above the crowd.
We set the game set pretty high from the beginning of the season, but were ready to quickly move on to Victoria Park for another round of summer sunshine and cool club beats.
Popping up during July in Victoria Park for Lovebox, Intent took the MegaRig (think a super sized, large capacity stretch tent) and made a splash as Fabrics stage clad with mirror, a little magic and London’s finest club sounds.
With MegaRigs and major parties behind us, August took us back to Wilderness for a fourth year of moonlight swimming, hip hop karaoke, craft cocktails and laser shows. With us we brought seven of our light-coloured stretch tents to dot across the site hosting a mix of venues varying from late night dance parties to decadent dining.
With stunning performances from the likes of Bonobo and Laura Mvula, invigorating talks by the country’s leading thinkers and gourmet dining from top-notch chefs, Wilderness proved yet again that you really can have it all in a field!
Summer 2017 was a season sent from festival heaven but as the sun starts to show it’s rays in April we’re focusing on all of the good things to come for 2018. With only weeks to go we’ll be heading to the Arcadia’s 10 year anniversary Festival for the start of the season this coming May bank holiday. What other way to get back into the festival spirit than with 50 foot, fire breathing spiders?
Other features on the circuit will be an August adventure to Cornwall for Boardmasters where surfers, musicians and party goers head to the shores for five days of beach lifestyle and beats and that’s not mentioning our return to Wilderness and Junction 2 for another year. With a jam packed schedule and super skilled team, we’ll see you in the fields for the next whirlwind tour of the festival circuit.
